Prada Turns Its Handbag Into ‘Prada Antique’

Prada has introduced “Prada Antique,” a new leather style applied across six existing handbag. This category covers the Aimée, Boogie, Box, Corsaire, Explore and Route styles, and all of them are available in the same cocoa-brown leather.

According to Prada’s own product listings, the leather carries an “antiqued effect created by hand,” which gives each bag a feel of worn and uneven surface texture. The Prada Box top-handle bag, for example, is made from calfskin and the antiquing listed as a distinct production step separate from the base leather.

Prada Antique comes in sixteen different collection, spanning mini bags up to large totes, all sharing the same leather and the same cocoa-brown colorway. Prada has not published a formal collection statement explaining the antiquing process or its design inspiration beyond the individual product descriptions.
