Selfridges, the luxury department store, has recently introduced a made-to-measure service in collaboration with eight renowned brands, including Giorgio Armani, Prada, and Thom Browne. This move comes as a response to the increased demand for tailored clothing, with the retailer boosting its fashion tailoring offer by 75% for spring 2023.
To accommodate this new service, Selfridges has transformed its personal shopping suites into “tailoring workrooms,” where the participating brands will take up residence over the coming months. Customers can make appointments through the website and attend personal shopping suites in Selfridges’ London, Manchester, and Birmingham stores.
Bosse Myhr, director of menswear at Selfridges, believes that the store’s made-to-measure service offers an advantage over stand-alone tailors due to the variety of brands available, allowing customers to create a unique personal look. but better quality items. The made-to-measure service aligns with Selfridges‘ numerous green initiatives and aims to change mindsets around product lifespan in fashion. Myhr emphasizes that purchasing a made-to-measure suit is a special experience and a considered investment that should last a lifetime.
As part of this enhanced offering, Selfridges will schedule personal appointments with Savile Row tailor Ozwald Boateng and tailors from partnered brands such as Prada, Thom Browne, Eleventy, Tom Ford, Zegna, Giorgio Armani, and Corneliani. The service costs between £2,000 and £7,000, which is in line with Savile Row prices.
This development reflects a resurgence in demand for tailored clothing following the pandemic, as men working between home and office seek more creative ways to dress and establish their own style codes.
With this new service, Selfridges aims to cater to customers’ changing tastes and demands while providing a unique brand mix that appeals to a broad cross-section of customers.
