The North Face Grossglockner Ultra Trail Showcases Determination, Altitude and Unforgettable Views in Austria’s High Alps

Held from 23 to 26 July 2026 in the Zell am See Kaprun region, The North Face Grossglockner Ultra Trail (GGUT) is one of the Alps’ top trail events, with routes circling the Grossglockner through Hohe Tauern National Park.

Distances range from the full 110km Ultra Trail with 6,500 metres of elevation gain to shorter, but still demanding, competitions such as the Osttirol Trail, Grossglockner Trail and Weißsee Glacier World Trail.

High altitude passes, technical terrain and long stretches above the treeline make heat and exposure a defining part of race conditions. In those conditions, Ida‑Sophie Hegemann took 1st place in the 85km race, stopping the clock in 11:09:05.
