Scotch & Soda stores reportedly closing ‘immediately’

Beloved Dutch fashion brand Scotch & Soda has officially announced the permanent closure of its stores in the Netherlands and several other European countries. Scotch & Soda, a staple in many wardrobes with its eclectic and fashionable clothing, has unfortunately faced insurmountable challenges over the past year, leading to the drastic decision. The closure comes soon after S&S Europe B.V., the company’s Northern European retail and e-commerce arm, declared bankruptcy on June 12, 2024.

The bankruptcy of S&S Europe B.V. has had a sweeping impact, affecting 92 shops and 721 employees across the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Austria. Specifically, 28 shops and 320 employees are facing job losses in the Netherlands alone. The bankruptcy was attributed to ongoing logistical problems and mounting financial losses that the brand could no longer sustain.
