How BeautyStat Takes Science-Driven Innovation Over Luxury Retail

The Vision: Chemistry and Consumer Trust Before becoming a top indie brand, Ron Robinson spent decades in labs at Estée Lauder, Avon, and Lancôme. In his words, “Back when I started, it wasn’t something that I knew existed or that I was intending to become,” he told Essence.

He launched BeautyStat in 2009 as a consumer education platform, then set out to address a major pain point: unstable vitamin C. “Unstable Vitamin C would oxidize and start to smell like hot dog water,” Robinson explained.
