Dior Opens House of Dior Shinsaibashi in Osaka With Sou Fujimoto’s Draped Façade

Architecture: a draped landmark in Shinsaibashi Located at 1 9 17 Shinsaibashisuji, Chūō ku, Osaka, on the main Shinsaibashi suji shopping artery, the House of Dior occupies a stand alone building designed by Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto.

The façade is a striking, undulating composition of layered, translucent panels that evoke the fluid drape of Christian Dior’s haute couture dresses, turning the structure into a kind of sculpted fabric frozen in motion.

Inside, the four story interior architecture has been conceived by Peter Marino, whose design opens with double height volumes and then unfolds as a series of luminous salons.

Natural light, mirrored surfaces and carefully curated materials guide visitors upwards, echoing the “kingdom of dreams” concept that positions the store as far more than a traditional boutique…
