Hermès Opens a 2,000 Square Metre Six Building Maison on New Bond Street Filled With 500 Artworks
Hermès has opened its sixth Maison worldwide at 166 New Bond Street in London, a nearly 2,000 square metre “mega boutique” that unites six historic buildings into one sprawling, five floor universe for all 16 métiers. Designed by RDAI in collaboration with Foster + Partners, the project weaves original Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian details with contemporary interventions, anchored by more than 500 artworks selected under the eye of artistic director PierreAlexis Dumas.
A six-building, five-floor Maison
The new Hermès Maison Bond Street occupies six Grade II–listed buildings dating back to 1769, stitched together into a single, fluid space. Across five floors, visitors navigate 55 rooms, four staircases, three elevators and two roof terraces, discovering ready to wear, leather goods, silk, equestrian, beauty, watches, jewellery and home in a sequence that feels more like a townhouse than a traditional flagship.

Architecture: preservation and reinvention The interiors were entrusted to RDAI (Rena Dumas Architecture Intérieure), under the artistic direction of Denis Montel, building on architectural elements previously reworked by Foster + Partners, including an impressive spiral staircase by Norman Foster.
Inside, visitors encounter a rich material palette: Bespoke cloth wallcoverings, patinated copper, reclaimed oak floors. Straw and horsehair marquetry, traditional wood panelling and geometric carpeting.
