M·A·C Cosmetics Goes Live on Shopify to Reimagine Online Beauty Shopping

M·A·C Cosmetics is now live on Shopify in the United States, marking a major step in the digital commerce partnership between The Estée Lauder Companies and Shopify. The launch brings one of prestige beauty’s most recognisable makeup brands onto the platform as the companies work to modernise how customers discover, shop and connect with beauty online.

The move is part of a broader plan to build a more flexible digital foundation for The Estée Lauder Companies’ brand portfolio. It also places M·A·C at the front of a new approach to online beauty commerce that combines brand storytelling, customer data, personalisation and omnichannel convenience.

A New Digital Commerce Platform

The Estée Lauder Companies announced its strategic partnership with Shopify in October 2025, with the first phase planned for launch in the first quarter of 2026. The collaboration is focused on updating the beauty group’s digital technology infrastructure and improving the customer journey across online and physical channels.

Shopify provides an enterprise commerce platform that allows brands to manage digital storefronts, payments, product information, customer data and retail integrations within one ecosystem. For beauty brands, this can make it easier to launch products, update campaigns and create more personalised shopping experiences.

M·A·C’s US launch shows how that strategy is taking shape. Customers can now access the brand’s full online offer through a Shopify-powered experience, including lip products, complexion, eye makeup, makeup tools and the brand’s artist-led product stories.

The shift also gives M·A·C more flexibility to introduce new digital features over time. That could include improved product recommendations, faster checkout, loyalty integration, local store fulfilment and content designed around beauty education.

M·A·C Leads the Rollout

Founded in Toronto in 1984, M·A·C Cosmetics became part of The Estée Lauder Companies in 1994. Today, the brand is sold in more than 120 countries and territories, making it one of the group’s most internationally recognised makeup businesses.

The brand’s role in the Shopify rollout is notable because M·A·C operates across multiple customer touchpoints. It sells through its own stores and website, department stores, specialty beauty retail partners and travel retail locations. In the United States, it is also expanding through Sephora stores and sephora.com.

Moving the direct M·A·C online experience to Shopify allows the brand to better connect those channels. A customer may discover a product through social media, browse it online, test it at a store and complete a purchase through whichever channel is most convenient.

For a makeup brand, that connected experience can be especially valuable. Customers often research shade ranges, check product reviews, watch application tutorials and compare finishes before purchasing. A streamlined digital site can help M·A·C guide that process while maintaining the creative and professional authority the brand is known for.
