Diane Von Furstenberg Reimagines the Connecticut Flag For United Flags of Fashion at Rockefeller Center
Diane von Furstenberg is bringing her signature bold prints to the sky above Rockefeller Center, with a reimagined Connecticut state flag now flying as part of United Flags of Fashion. Her flag joins more than 120 custom designer flags created to celebrate 250 years of American creativity, culture and design, turning the iconic rink into an open air gallery of fashion led interpretations of the nation’s symbols.

United Flags of Fashion is a joint project from CFDA, Vogue, America250 and Rockefeller Center, conceived to mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Leading American designers were invited to reinterpret the flags of the 50 states, five territories and Washington, D.C., each offering a visual response that reflects local identity through the lens of fashion.

Reworking the traditional blue field and grapevine motifs of the original state flag, Diane uses her iconic bold prints in a playful patchwork inspired by Connecticut’s history, natural beauty and enduring spirit.
Colour palettes and pattern placements echo coastal landscapes, forests and small town architecture, while the patchwork structure nods to American quilt making and the idea of lives and stories stitched together…
